Bangkok: The Prime Minister has issued a security policy directive, urging the collaboration of "provincial teams" to enhance prevention, suppression, and public safety, in line with the goals of "alleviating suffering, promoting well-being, upholding peace, combating drug trafficking, and conquering criminals."
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul chaired a meeting to deliver policy guidelines on "Driving Security Operations According to Government Policy in Chonburi Province," with heads of government departments and related agencies in attendance. Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Prime Minister has given policy directives on driving security work, stating that the current threat situation is complex and rapidly changing, affecting public safety and confidence in the government's law enforcement. The government prioritizes the prevention and suppression of all forms of threats. Chonburi Province, a major tourist city and economic hub, needs to upgrade its security and crime prevention measures to serve as a model, and the government is ready to fully support the operations of all agencies.
The Prime Minister has outlined policy directions for driving security initiatives in three dimensions. Firstly, prevention will be led by the Provincial Governor and the Provincial Police Commander, coordinating with administrative, military, police, and all sectors to monitor and prevent drug problems, cybercrime, and the activities of influential groups. The focus is on alleviating suffering, promoting well-being, upholding peace and order, eradicating drug trafficking, and conquering criminals.
The second dimension, suppression, involves serious, decisive, and continuous action by all agencies, adhering to the rule of law and legal equality. Addressing the drug problem is an urgent priority, with intensive efforts under "Operation 90 Days: Eradicating Drugs," continuing alongside the suppression of call center gangs, scammers, online gambling websites, digital fraud, nominee businesses, firearms, and other illegal activities. The directive calls for accelerated investigations, disruption of financial networks, and prosecution of masterminds and supporters.
The third dimension focuses on assistance to the public, urging all units to upgrade public service delivery. The Complaint Center is set to be the primary mechanism for receiving complaints and resolving problems, while police stations are tasked with improving service levels for efficient incident reporting and patrol deployment.
Further integration with agencies such as the Anti-Money Laundering Office, the Department of Special Investigation, and the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission is necessary to expedite complex cases and bring perpetrators to justice.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of collaboration in Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat provinces, which are crucial for the country's economy, tourism, and investment. Enhanced security measures and improved quality of life for the people will foster safety, build confidence, and strengthen the areas' capacity to accommodate tourists, investment, and economic growth.
