Bangkok: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul engaged in discussions with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the National People's Congress of China, to commemorate the 51st anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations and enhance cooperation in various sectors. The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing following a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the People's Martyrs in Tiananmen Square.
According to Thai News Agency, the dialogue aimed at reinforcing the longstanding friendship between Thailand and China, focusing on collaborative efforts in emerging fields such as space, electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and sustainable environmental protection. Both leaders emphasized strengthening parliamentary cooperation to achieve tangible benefits for their citizens.
Prime Minister Anutin outlined a strategic plan for advancing bilateral cooperation in four key areas: politics and security, economy and investment, people-to-people relations, and regional cooperation. He highlighted the importance of increased high-level exchanges, combating transnational crime, promoting balanced trade, and enhancing cultural ties between the two nations.
The Thai Prime Minister also encouraged more legislative exchanges and extended an invitation to the Chinese Speaker to visit Thailand, marking a potential first visit in 15 years. He expressed confidence that enhanced cooperation would yield economic opportunities and bolster regional stability.
Chairman Zhao Leji welcomed the successful visit of Prime Minister Anutin, including his participation in the WAIC 2026 conference and a meeting with President Xi Jinping. He affirmed China's readiness to support Thailand's endeavors in AI, digital technology, and clean energy, and emphasized cooperation on international platforms such as ASEAN-China and the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation framework.
The Chinese Chairman further expressed appreciation for the parliamentary collaboration and extended an invitation for Thai parliamentary leaders to visit China, aiming to jointly explore advancements in environmental law and sustainable development.
