Gyeongju: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has arrived in South Korea for the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, aiming to enhance trade relations and secure a significant rice export deal with China.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister, accompanied by his team, departed from Don Mueang Military Airport 2, Wing 6, to participate in the APEC meeting scheduled from October 29 to November 1, 2025. The agenda includes discussions with leaders from countries such as China, Canada, South Korea, and Brunei, as well as a meeting with US President Donald J. Trump. A critical component of his visit involves negotiations with Chinese leader Xi Jinping concerning the export of 500,000 tons of Thai rice, which is anticipated to boost Thailand’s national revenue. Discussions will also address the repatriation of nearly 500 Indians rescued from Mae Sot District, Tak Province, on an Indian plane, as part of efforts to enhance cooperation in crime suppression.
During the summit, Prime Minister Anutin is set to attend two major sessions: “Towards a More Connected, Resilient Region and Beyond” and “Preparing a Future-Ready Asia-Pacific.” These sessions will focus on topics such as economic connectivity, trade, investment, innovation, AI, and public-private partnerships. Additionally, he will deliver a special lecture titled “Bridge. Business. Beyond.” The meeting is expected to yield five key outcomes, including the Gyeongju Declaration, the APEC AI Initiative, and a statement on cultural and innovation cooperation.
