President Trump to Address Congress Amidst Rising Tensions and Economic Challenges

Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump is set to deliver his annual State of the Union address to Congress this morning, local time, amidst a multitude of challenges encompassing the economy, politics, society, and escalating tensions with Iran.

According to Thai News Agency, President Trump is scheduled to deliver his State of the Union speech at 9:00 AM Thailand time, amidst domestic and international pressure, particularly tensions with Iran, and with the midterm elections in November approaching. This prime-time speech is therefore seen as a crucial platform to garner continued support for the Republican Party.

In recent days, the Trump administration has faced pressure from multiple sides, including the U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning his tax measures, economic figures reflecting a greater-than-expected slowdown, and accelerating inflation. Trump may challenge the court's decision on the tax measures, insisting there are other legal avenues to reinstate them. Republican advisors are also urging him to emphasize the cost of living and the economy as key factors for winning the 2024 election.

Sources within the White House indicate that Trump will emphasize economic successes such as stock market gains, private investment, and tax cuts, while blaming the weak economy on the administration of former President Joe Biden.

However, several polls reflect that many Americans remain unconvinced by President Trump's ability to solve the cost of living problems, and also view his immigration policies as too strict. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security has been largely shut down due to budgetary constraints and the immigration policy conflict between Republicans and Democrats.
