Prachachat Party Unveils “Halal Economy” Strategy to Position Thailand as Global Hub

Bangkok: Prachachat newspaper has revealed its "Halal Economy" strategy aimed at transforming Thailand into a global center. Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, leader of the Prachachart Party, introduced the party's economic roadmap, declaring the "Halal Economy" as a national agenda. He emphasized Halal as a "New S-Curve," stating that Thailand has strong resources in exports and tourism. Plans to develop "Wellness and Medical Tourism" targeting Middle Eastern markets were announced, with spending figures exceeding 20,000 baht per capita per day. He expressed confidence that systematic management would generate significant revenue for the country.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Tawee led an economic team, headed by Mr. Rungruang Phithayashiri, in a brainstorming session with Muslim businesspeople and entrepreneurs. While the global economy faces challenges, Thailand needs a new economic growth engine. The Prachachart Party sees the "Halal Economy" as more than religious principles, viewing it as a "business opportunity" for all Thais, key to unlocking future prosperity.

The party's strategy highlights three strengths to propel Thailand into becoming a global halal hub. Thailand's potential is supported by robust infrastructure, enabling immediate leadership in the global market. This is based on three factors: 1. Export potential, with over 200,000 Thai products having halal certification and being exported globally, reflecting recognized production standards.

2. Tourism Excellence, as Thailand ranks among the top 5 globally for Muslim tourists (Halal and Muslim Friendly Tourism). 3. High-Purchasing Power in the Wellness Market, with Middle Eastern tourists having high confidence in Thailand's healthcare system. Statistics show that for every patient receiving treatment, 10-20 family members accompany them, generating spending of up to 20,000 baht per person per day, stimulating the grassroots economy.

Pol. Col. Tawee explained the policy of launching a "Halal Integration Model" to upgrade the entire supply chain. For sustainability, the Prachachart Party has developed a holistic strategy encompassing the business ecosystem, including: 1. Upgrading products, focusing on developing grassroots entrepreneurs (SMEs) to produce export-standard products; 2. Halal tourism, developing infrastructure and services for all tourist levels.

3. Human capital development: Transforming educational institutions into "incubators" for new halal entrepreneurs, along with personnel development in wellness and service to meet global demand. 4. Innovation: Utilizing science and technology in inspection and certification to build confidence with partners. 5. Service and Culture: Applying halal principles to the service sector for a distinctive identity.

'We believe that if Thailand manages this strategically and systematically, the halal economy will not just be an option, but a necessity and a new primary source of income that will create sustainable economic stability for all Thais,' Pol. Col. Tawee said.
