Bangkok: Mr. Ratthawirun Chanjungthaworn, Chief Executive Officer of Premier Quality Starch or PQS, took the stage at the 'Global Cassava Sustainability Forum 2025' to present his vision and suggest turning challenges in the cassava starch industry into opportunities through innovation and cooperation between the public and private sectors, as well as highlighting an investment plan to produce low-carbon cassava. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ratthawirun emphasized that Thailand has long been a leader in the cassava industry, but today it faces challenges from factors such as the climate crisis, market volatility, and the pressure to innovate for sustainability. PQS believes that the industry's survival relies on transforming these challenges into opportunities through 'innovation and public-private partnerships.' In the past, PQS has collaborated with many government agencies and universities on projects like researching the extraction of dietary fiber from cassava pulp, producing bioplastics for 3D p rinting, and developing prebiotics from waste materials. This demonstrates that 'Waste to Value' can be achieved through collaboration between the public and private sectors. Simultaneously, the company is investing in producing low-carbon cassava, a project that depends on the collaboration of farmers, researchers, and entrepreneurs to elevate Thai cassava to be the cleanest and most traceable plant globally. Mr. Ratthawirun stated, 'PQS is ready to help drive Thailand to become a true global cassava hub, in line with Thailand's goal of 'Kitchen of the World' because when a vision for the greater good meets the creative power of business, we can transform agricultural produce into food innovations that are safe, valuable, and ready for the future.'
