Korat: A terrifying incident unfolded in the middle of the night when a woman was charging a newly purchased power bank in her room. After a short while, the power bank exploded, engulfing the area in flames. The fire alarm sounded throughout the condominium, causing panic among neighbors who fled in chaos.
According to Thai News Agency, around 1:00 AM last night, rescue workers, police, and firefighters battled a fire inside a sixth-floor apartment in a condominium in downtown Korat. They quickly evacuated residents via the fire escape amidst panic, as it was the middle of the night and the fire alarm was sounding continuously.
It took approximately one hour to bring the fire under control, and fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities. After the fire was extinguished, police questioned the tenant of the room where the fire originated, a 23-year-old woman. She stated that she lived alone and, before the incident, was charging a newly purchased power bank in her room. While holding the power bank, she saw sparks and smoke billowing out. Panicked, she ran out of the room to seek help. Shortly afterward, it is believed the power bank exploded, causing the fire to quickly spread inside the room. She was unable to retrieve any belongings, including her mobile phone or iPad. Initial investigations revealed that several items in the room were damaged.
