Bangkok: Police raided a card game ring in the Bang Khun Thian area, arresting 28 gamblers. A gambling ring was broken up as Crime Suppression Division police raided a card game in the area. Gamblers were unable to escape in time and were taken into custody, with 28 individuals arrested and cards seized.
According to Thai News Agency, the Crime Suppression Division police launched an operation titled 'Shut the Door and Beat the Cat! Bust an Illegal Gambling Den in the Middle of the City.' Investigations revealed that gambling activities were taking place within the jurisdiction of the Bang Khun Thian Police Station. The arresting team planned for two plainclothes officers to hide in Soi Kamnan Maen 7, Khlong Bang Phran Subdistrict, Bang Bon District. The entrance, located at the back of the building, was closed to appear as if no one was present. The remaining officers waited approximately 30 meters away to execute the arrest. At around 9:00 PM, a moment of distraction allowed the two plainclothes officers to enter and prevent the gatekeeper from closing the door. The startled gatekeeper managed to escape using the cover of darkness.
The arresting team proceeded to break down the door and enter the premises. The building contained several empty rooms, with the gambling activities taking place on the second floor. Upon entry, officers discovered numerous individuals engaged in gambling. The operation resulted in the arrest of 28 people, including Ms. Duangpi, age 55, and her associates. They were charged with organizing and participating in illegal gambling activities involving Kao Kae cards and gambling for property. Evidence seized from the scene included two decks of cards, gambling equipment, and 19,940 baht in cash.
All 28 suspects were questioned and subsequently confessed to the charges.
