Bangkok: The Commissioner General of Police has ordered the transfer of the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police Commander following allegations of police officers accepting bribes. This move aims to ensure a transparent and fair investigation into the matter.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyot Thepjamnong, Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police and spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, confirmed the reports circulating on social media about a police officer allegedly accepting bribes in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. These allegations have adversely affected the image of the Royal Thai Police and have drawn significant public attention. Consequently, Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, signed an order reassigning Pol. Maj. Gen. Kriangsak Noonkleang, the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police Commander, to the Royal Thai Police Operations Center. This reassignment effectively removes him from his previous position, with Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornchai Khajornklin, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 8, stepping in as acting Commander from today until further notice.
The decision follows suspicions of neglect of duty and unsuitability for the original position. Allowing the officer to remain might cause further damage. Therefore, under the authority of the National Police Act B.E. 2565 (2022) and the regulations of the Royal Thai Police, the Commissioner General ordered the temporary reassignment to facilitate a smooth, efficient, transparent, and fair investigation, preventing potential harm to the government.
A spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police emphasized the Commissioner General's commitment to transparency, integrity, and accountability within the organization. A fair investigation is underway, and if wrongdoing is confirmed, decisive actions will be taken to restore public trust and confidence in the Royal Thai Police.
