Police Apprehend Man Driving Recklessly Under Influence of Drugs

Wichian Buri:A young man high on methamphetamine was surrounded and apprehended by over 10 police officers while driving recklessly in the Wichian Buri district of Phetchabun province.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved Mr. Panithan, 38, who was driving a suspicious white Honda Civic sedan with a detached front bumper at high speeds on Busarakham Road, alarming the public and raising concerns about potential accidents. The police received a report from the public and quickly responded to the situation.

When officers from the Wichian Buri Police Station located the parked sedan outside a convenience store, they requested Mr. Panithan exit the vehicle. He resisted, resulting in a struggle where he accidentally accelerated the car into a police vehicle. Officers managed to subdue him and remove him from the car.

Mr. Panithan admitted to consuming one methamphetamine pill and was en route to a friend's house. A background check revealed a prior arrest for driving under the influence of drugs. He now faces three charges: using illegal drugs, driving under the influence of drugs, and causing damage to government property. The suspect was taken into custody for further legal proceedings.
