Bangkok: Amidst the bustling election campaign, the Polawat Party is making its voice heard, with leader and prime ministerial candidate Kanwee Suebsaeng outlining a transformative vision for Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, Suebsaeng emphasized the party's mission to navigate Thailand out of its political quagmire and into a prominent position on the international stage. The party's motto, "Connecting the world, creating opportunities, leaving no one behind," encapsulates its core objectives.
Suebsaeng argues that Thailand, as a "medium-sized country," is underperforming on the global front. The Polawat Party's "Connecting the World" initiative seeks to address key issues at Thailand's borders with Cambodia, Myanmar, and Malaysia, while also tackling transboundary air pollution in the north. By integrating Thai resources into global supply chains, the party aims to create international market opportunities and strengthen Thailand's presence worldwide.
To combat transnational crime, the Polawat Party has introduced the "4 Cuts" policy. This strategic approach targets the roots of crime by focusing on key areas: dismantling networks of corruption, intercepting money laundering routes, disrupting communications used by call center gangs, and dismantling human trafficking networks. This comprehensive framework aims to protect Thailand from external criminal influences and bolster national security.
The party also advocates for decentralization through "provincial self-governance," proposing direct elections for governors in border and coastal provinces. This policy is designed to empower local authorities, allowing them to collect and reinvest taxes from cross-border trade. Decentralization is expected to enhance security in vulnerable areas and address challenges related to migrant workers and public health.
Additionally, the Polawat Party prioritizes the grassroots economy over traditional GDP metrics. The "Community Lab" model seeks to enhance local productivity and income, exemplified by upgrading fish jerky production in Songkhla province. By fostering local entrepreneurship and reducing urban migration, the party aims to strengthen the country's economic infrastructure.
Under Suebsaeng's leadership, the Polawat Party envisions a reformed Thailand, poised to keep pace with global advancements while ensuring that no citizen is left behind.
