Bangkok: PM concerned about flooding in the South, orders urgent assistance, "Phumtham" sends "Big Lek" to fly urgently to the South, reinforces personnel, mobilizes flat-bottomed boats with engines to transport victims, "Anutin" and "Im Thirat" fly to join tomorrow (29 Nov) According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, acting as the chairman of the Operation Center for Windstorm and Landslide Relief (OCRR), revealed that the government has been closely monitoring the flood situation in the South. They have been consistently informed of the assistance being provided to the victims in the area. The situation has been regularly reported to the Prime Minister, who is deeply concerned about the affected people and has instructed the mobilization of urgent assistance. This morning, General Nattapol Nakphanich, Deputy Minister of Defense, was ordered to fly urgently to the South. His mission is to monitor the situation, oversee immediate problem resolution , and coordinate with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Mr. Charnvirakul, along with Ms. Thirat Samretwanich, Deputy Minister of Interior, are scheduled to travel to the South tomorrow. Initial reports indicate that flat-bottomed boats with engines are needed to transport victims from the risk areas. As a result, all armed forces have been ordered to mobilize equipment and personnel to assist in the region, emphasizing the government's commitment to prioritizing the safety of the people. Additionally, Mr. Phumtham has instructed Mr. Chayan Muangsong, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Administration, to coordinate with all agencies to ensure the availability of food for both victims and officials in the affected areas. Many routes have been rendered impassable due to severe flooding. Coordination with the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office is also underway to prepare a fund to assist those impacted by the disaster.
