Mrs. Radklao Inthawong Suwankiri, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that this is another success of Thai scientists that has helped push Thailand’s space industry towards progress. With the successful entry into orbit of THEOS-2 satellite on October 9, 2023, Earth exploration operations have begun.
THEOS-2 is considered a satellite for surveying natural resources and monitoring the environment in Thailand. Data from THEOS-2 satellite will be used to support decision-making and spatial management according to the country’s mission. Especially in the areas of water, agriculture, disasters, natural resources, urban planning, and security. as well as being used to promote innovation from space In the past, data from other GISTDA satellites have been used for use in this area. especially land management and soil resources of the country which brings great economic, social and environmental benefits. When the THEOS-2 satellite is successfully put into orbit, it will be even more beneficial.
Mrs. Radklao said that at this time it was known that GISTDA had plans to build THEOS-3 satellite, with the first design already completed. Currently there is a seminar and preliminary public relations It also plans to build and assemble the THEOS-3 satellite in Thailand. The plan is to launch it into space within 2026-2027. In addition to the aforementioned success, Thailand is about to have a big event in space technology. ‘National Space Week 2023’ to allow people involved and interested in the development of space technology and others both domestically and abroad to come together to exchange and follow information on technology and innovation. The event will be held between 25-27 October 2023 at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
