Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, along with Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt, took decisive action by ordering a halt to the oil pipeline flow in the Khlong Toei area. This decision comes amid ongoing investigations into oil contamination discovered in the drainage system near Chueapleng Road. The inspection aimed to assess the extent of the contamination and determine necessary steps for resolution.
According to Thai News Agency, Pipat and Chatchart emphasized the need for immediate excavation of suspected areas to identify underground pipe leaks, which are estimated to be 1.5-2 meters below the surface. The authorities have mandated that the company responsible for the pipeline must cease supplying oil until the necessary repairs are completed and safety is confirmed by the engineering department. Clarity on the situation is anticipated within the week.
Additionally, the officials confirmed that the oil contamination incidents in the Khlong Toei and Rama 9 areas are unrelated to the data center, addressing concerns about potential links between the sites. The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure the safety and integrity of the area's infrastructure.
