Pichai Denies Knowledge of Kittirat’s Replacement with Phongphanu.

Bangkok: Pichai insists he is not aware of the replacement of "Kittirat", throwing the question to the Ministry of Finance. Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, addressed rumors regarding the potential appointment of Mr. Pongpanu Svetarundra, the former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, as Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Thailand. This would be a replacement for Mr. Kittiratt Na Ranong. Pichai stated that he was not informed about any such change, emphasizing that the decision lies with the chairman of the selection committee and that inquiries should be directed to the Ministry of Finance, which is responsible for the proposal. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pichai confirmed that the Prime Minister has been made aware of the situation. When questioned about any opposition to Mr. Kittirat from the Bank of Thailand, Pichai mentioned that resistance was merely an opinion expressed by both parties involved.
