Phumtham Supports Kittirat’s Candidacy for Bank of Thailand Chairman Post.

Bangkok: "Phumtham" believes that if "Kittirat" can get in, it will be complete. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, expressed confidence in Kittiratt Na-Ranong's candidacy for the position of Chairman of the Bank of Thailand (BOT). He emphasized Kittiratt's expertise in finance and treasury, suggesting that his appointment would be beneficial. Phumtham noted that he saw no reason for objections against Kittiratt's candidacy. According to Thai News Agency, Phumtham commented on the recent postponement of the BOT chairman selection meeting, which included Kittiratt as a candidate. Phumtham stated that the delay was not a matter of government concern and mentioned that he would inquire with Mr. Sathit Limpongpan, the chairman of the selection committee, regarding the reasons behind the postponement. Addressing concerns about Kittiratt's political background, Phumtham pointed out that despite Kittiratt's previous association with the Pheu Thai Party, the selection process shoul d adhere to legal procedures. He argued that if Kittiratt meets the necessary criteria, there should be no reason for rejection. Phumtham emphasized that a fair discussion should take place if Kittiratt's candidacy aligns with the regulations. In response to questions about potential political interference by Kittiratt in the BOT, Phumtham dismissed such concerns. He argued that the constitution allows individuals with political backgrounds to hold professional roles, and Kittiratt's financial expertise would contribute positively if he were appointed. Phumtham highlighted that the decision ultimately lies with the BOT's selection committee and encouraged direct inquiries to Kittiratt for further clarification.
