Phuket:The Deputy Governor of Phuket has announced that the city is preparing a grand welcome parade for 'Nene,' the winner of America's Got Talent Season 21. This event aims to inspire youth, boost tourism, and enhance soft power to attract global visitors.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Romdon Haji Awae, the Deputy Governor and spokesperson for Phuket City, expressed pride in the achievements of "Nong Nene" or Nong Praew, officially known as Miss Rattikan Amlai. The 16-year-old Phuket resident's victory in the international competition brings immense pride to the people of Phuket and Thailand as a whole.
Plans are underway for a significant welcome ceremony upon Nene's return to Thailand, including a parade through Phuket City Municipality and surrounding areas. Nene, along with her family, will ride in an open-air float, offering the public an opportunity to express their support and congratulations.
Coordination with Ms. Sabida Thaiseth, the Minister of Culture, has resulted in the preparation of a special gift and a custom-made Thai dress for Nene, which will serve as a tool for promoting Thai culture globally and driving soft power.
Mr. Romdon highlighted the positive impact of Nene's success on tourism, youth inspiration, and soft power promotion. The praise from AGT mentors designating Phuket as the "Best Place to Visit" is expected to boost tourist interest, particularly during the high season. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) predicts a significant increase in tourist arrivals, contributing substantial revenue to the region. Additionally, Phuket Province, in partnership with local organizations, plans to organize a music competition to provide young talents a platform to shine.
Nene's return to Thailand is currently being arranged following a brief concert she performed at a Thai restaurant in the United States. The public and media will be informed of the confirmed date and time of her arrival.
