Bangkok: Pheu Thai Party has firmly rejected allegations of distorting the law, clarifying that it will not delay the Entertainment Complex Act before addressing the earthquake motion. The party has stated that the motion will be submitted for consideration on April 9, 2025, rather than within the current week. Reporters have noted that the Pheu Thai Party communicated via its Facebook page, emphasizing that there will be no postponement of the Entertainment Complex Act prior to addressing the ‘earthquake’ issue, and that the matter is being evaluated by the House of Representatives.
According to Thai News Agency, a comment in the party’s social media post sought to rectify public misconceptions, asserting that the Entertainment Complex Act was not slated for discussion before the Earthquake Motion. The Pheu Thai Party MPs have proposed to deliberate on the Entertainment Complex on April 9, 2025, stressing it was not intended for consideration this week.
Details from the House of Representatives reveal that MPs from multiple parties have proposed discussions on the earthquake, with the Leader of the Opposition from the Prachachon Party initiating the proposal. Following the Prachachon Party’s proposal, MP Anusorn Iamsaard from the Pheu Thai Party put forth a motion to prioritize the Entertainment Complex Act and the Peacebuilding Act (Amnesty) as urgent matters for the following week. When faced with overlapping proposals, it was decided that a vote would determine the priority of the motions.
Subsequently, the House of Representatives voted in favor of MP Anusorn’s motion, agreeing to discuss the two draft laws the following week. Meanwhile, the earthquake incident motion will proceed as initially planned.
The council ultimately voted to approve MP Anusorn’s motion, allowing the debate on the earthquake incident to commence immediately. In response to the earthquake’s aftermath, particularly the collapse of the Office of the Auditor General’s under-construction building, which led to numerous individuals going missing, the Pheu Thai Party, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, has committed to recovery efforts. Collaborating with relevant agencies and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the party is working to restore normalcy, implementing long-term prevention and warning strategies to ensure Thailand’s resilience in future scenarios.
