Sa Kaeo:The Pheu Thai Party's candidate selection committee has nominated Sarawong Thianthong to contest the parliamentary seat in Constituency 3, Sa Kaeo Province. This decision was reached during an extraordinary party meeting held this morning.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting's agenda included the selection process for candidates in Sa Kaeo province, resulting in the nomination of Sarawong Thianthong. Mr. Suksit Srijomkwan, spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, announced that the selection committee resolved to nominate Mr. Sarawong for the by-election. A meeting of the party's executive committee will soon be held to approve this resolution.
Additionally, the general assembly resolved to amend the party's rules and regulations to facilitate more convenient and efficient membership registration. The registration process will now be conducted off-site, with fees reduced to 100 baht annually and 200 baht for a lifetime membership.
Mr. Chulaphan Amornvivat, Minister of Labour and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, confirmed that Sarawong Thianthong will contest the MP seat, urging the public to support the Pheu Thai Party candidate. The registration period for candidates is set for November 9-13, 2026, with the election scheduled for December 6, 2026. Mr. Chulaphan expressed confidence in Sarawong’s candidacy, highlighting his past experience as a former Minister of Tourism and Sports and his longstanding relationship with the party.
Currently, discussions with coalition partners regarding candidate nominations are ongoing, with the expectation that the Pheu Thai Party will be the primary representative for the coalition in the upcoming by-election.
