Pheu Thai Party Demands Accountability from Election Commission Over Missing Candidate Names

Bangkok: The Pheu Thai Party has called on the Election Commission to take responsibility for the omission of candidates’ names from the advance voting list, a situation they claim undermines public trust in the independent body. Mr. Suksit Srijomkwan, spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, emphasized the need for the Election Commission to conduct the election transparently, fairly, and efficiently to ensure that every vote is accurately represented.

According to Thai News Agency, the Pheu Thai Party has received numerous complaints about alleged election mismanagement during a period of high voter turnout for advance voting. Mr. Surachart Chanpradit, a candidate for Member of Parliament in Sisaket Province, Constituency 2, reported that his name was missing from the candidate list at a polling station in Nakhon Pathom Province, Constituency 5. After raising the issue, the polling station committee added his name to the list.

Mr. Suksit further insisted that the Election Commission investigate whether the omission was an oversight or a deliberate act to impede votes for the party’s candidates. The Pheu Thai Party is demanding clarification from the Election Commission on how it intends to address this incident, which may have resulted in lost votes. The party is compiling information nationwide and plans to file a formal complaint to ensure that the election remains free from controversy.

“If we all believe that independent organizations should be more accountable to the people, then a new constitution is necessary. In addition to choosing the right people and parties, let’s vote in favor in this referendum,” a spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party stated.
