Pheu Thai Aims for 220 Seats in Upcoming Election, Declares Somkid.

Bangkok: "Somkid" has announced that the Pheu Thai Party aims to secure 220 seats in the upcoming election, surpassing the previously discussed target of 200. He urged the people to focus on constructive speeches and policy presentations rather than creating divisive trends. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Somkid Chuekong, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs and former Pheu Thai MP for Ubon Ratchathani, addressed the recent controversy between the Pheu Thai Party and the Prachachon Party. This tension arose following former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra's campaign efforts for the Pheu Thai Party's candidate in the Udon Thani Provincial Administrative Organization election. Mr. Somkid noted that Mr. Thaksin's speeches were positive and non-detrimental. He emphasized that the aim of securing 220 MPs reflects the party's forward-looking strategy, focusing on understanding past electoral losses to make necessary improvements. Mr. Somkid further expressed the need for poli tical discourse to center around policy proposals and constructive discussions. He highlighted the importance of recognizing differing opinions as a normal aspect of politics, while cautioning against creating conflicts that could lead to mutual destruction. He encouraged discussions that prioritize policy and improvements in people's lives, suggesting that focusing on every minor detail of disagreements would be counterproductive.
