As the Windsurfing Association of Thailand has sent 1 athlete, Mr. Phasapong Lianglum, to participate in the Youth and Junior World Windsurfing Championships in Sa Rapita, Spain. Mr. Phasapong Lianglum will compete in the youth category under 19 years old, male (U19), departing from Suvarnabhumi Airport since the middle of the night on October 19, 2024, along with Mr. Natthaphong Phonopparat, the trainer. The latest, Mr. Phatthana Boonsawat, Secretary-General of the Windsurfing Association of Thailand, revealed that he received a report from Mr. Nattapong Phonprat, the coach, that the journey to Sa Rapita took quite a long time and involved many stops, causing the athletes to feel exhausted and sick with a fever. The coach therefore asked the athletes to get plenty of rest. Originally, they planned to practice from October 22, 2024, but they were unable to do so because they were concerned that if the athletes had to practice in the sea under the strong sunlight, their illness might worsen. They waited until the athletes were in better shape before they could practice. Now the athletes are in better shape and are fit and ready to compete. The weather is generally very good. The temperature is around 22-26 degrees Celsius, but the sun is quite strong. The waves are moderate. After the athletes practiced, they did well. They tried to get used to the weather and waves as quickly as possible. The competition is scheduled for October 28 - November 2, 2024. "The athletes are feeling better now. During the time they are not training in the sea, they have been observing and studying various information, such as currents and waves, as well as doing light exercise to maintain their fitness. I believe that Thai athletes will fight to their fullest potential and will definitely perform impressively," said Mr. Phatthana Bunsawas, Secretary-General of the Windsurfing Association.
