Bangkok: "Pharadon" has voiced allegations of a deliberate campaign to falsely accuse the Bhumjaithai Party of collusion in the selection of 67 senators, raising concerns about the Department of Special Investigation's (DSI) misuse of power to intimidate witnesses and fabricate charges with the aim of dissolving the party. He also urged the seven Election Commissioners to clarify their stance on the alleged conspiracy.
According to Thai News Agency, during a House of Representatives meeting focused on reviewing the Election Commission's (EC) performance report for fiscal years 2024 and 2025, Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, an MP from the Bhumjaithai Party representing Ang Thong Province, participated in a debate criticizing the EC's rulings. He highlighted ongoing concerns about the credibility of the EC's decisions and questioned the seven EC members about their belief in a possible conspiracy.
Mr. Paradorn emphasized that accusations against Bhumjaithai have persisted for two years, claiming that the 2024 Senate election was the most rigged in Thailand, allegedly involving the party's executive members. He queried the EC on their belief in the integrity of the election process and questioned why charges were voted on individually if a collective rigged process was suspected.
Mr. Paradorn also questioned the legitimacy of the DSI's involvement, pointing out procedural discrepancies dating back to 2015 when the DSI had informed the EC of the case's merit. He raised concerns about the establishment of a special subcommittee and the inclusion of DSI officials who had been involved in the initial process.
He further alleged that some witnesses had retracted their testimony due to intimidation by DSI officials, who he claimed were attempting to fabricate stories and manipulate testimony to implicate the Bhumjaithai Party. Mr. Paradorn accused these actions of intending to portray the party negatively and ultimately lead to its dissolution.
Addressing the Election Commission, Mr. Paradorn demanded answers regarding perceived inconsistencies in the voting process and questioned the authenticity of voting slips allegedly found post-election. He urged the EC to provide justice to those accused and to scrutinize the processes that have led to these allegations.
Mr. Paradorn concluded by posing critical questions to the Election Commission about their awareness and response to the issues he identified, emphasizing the need for fairness and justice in addressing the accusations against him and his party.
