The National Legislative Assembly spent hours on Friday to wrap up deliberation of an extra expenditure budget for 2017 fiscal year amounting to 190 billion baht.
The additional budget which will be partially funded by loan amounting to 160 billion baht was intended to strengthen domestic economy, to subsidise low income-earners who earn less than 30,000 baht a year and to help southern flood victims.
The loan which will be locally secured will add up budget deficit to 555 billion baht from existing 390 billion baht.
However, the Finance Ministry assured that the increased deficit will not affect public debt.
Once passed by the NLA, the extra budget will be channeled into the system and disbursed for use within the first quarter of this year.
