Accra:Government House Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, is set to discuss the scheduling of the no-confidence debate with the three-party whips. He has reiterated that a three-day interpellation is convenient, although a meeting is expected tomorrow to finalize the timeframe.
According to Thai News Agency, Paradorn explained that the debate is planned from October 27th to 29th, with a vote on October 30th, due to the Prime Minister's travel commitments. He emphasized the need for rational discussions given the tight schedule.
The opposition has expressed concerns that the proposed three-day debate might be insufficient. Paradorn noted that discussions with the opposition are necessary to address these concerns. A special cabinet meeting is scheduled for October 26th to finalize preparations.
Additionally, when asked about the relationship between Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Captain Thammanat Promphao, Paradorn remarked that their friendship, evidenced by their frequent meals together, should not be seen as unusual. Regarding potential political implications, such interpretations are left open.
Speculation about a possible merger between the Bhumjaithai Party and the Kla Tham Party was addressed with a smile by Paradorn, who suggested directing such questions to the parties' executive committees. As for the possibility of the Kla Tham Party joining the government, Paradorn advised against speculating too far ahead.
Lastly, Paradorn stated that any decisions regarding a cabinet reshuffle post-debate are within the Prime Minister’s authority, and internal party reshuffles would require further discussions.
