Bangkok: The National Security Council (NSC) deliberated on the establishment of a special government representative to address issues concerning the southern border. The initiative aims to consolidate efforts over a four-month period to select suitable candidates for this role.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chatchai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council, shared the outcomes of the recent NSC meeting. The meeting focused on monitoring the situation in the southern border provinces, emphasizing the need to appoint a special government representative. This role is intended to coordinate policy and operational efforts, with a specific emphasis on resolving issues within a limited timeframe. General Somsak Rungsita has been designated as the head of the peace talks team, and the process is set to proceed as planned.
The finalization of the government's special representatives is still pending. The NSC will evaluate the appropriate composition and collaborate with the political sector to make selections. Although the size of the NSC will not be very large, the exact number of members is yet to be determined. The NSC aims to ensure consistency and expedite the process within the limited timeframe.
