Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning concerning heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in upper Thailand from September 4th to 7th, with particular emphasis on the northern and northeastern regions. This warning, labeled as Warning No. 1, highlights the risk of flash floods and landslides due to a monsoon trough affecting the region and a moderate southwest monsoon covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
According to Thai News Agency, residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant as the heavy rainfall could lead to accumulated flooding. Those living on slopes near waterways and in low-lying areas are advised to exercise extra caution. Travel on routes susceptible to frequent flooding should be avoided, especially in low-lying regions where short-term inundation might occur.
In addition, Tropical Storm "Sodel," currently in the upper South China Sea, is anticipated to approach Taiwan between September 5-7, 2026. Travelers heading to this region should verify weather conditions prior to their journey. However, the storm is not expected to impact Thailand directly.
