North Korea Launches Suspected Ballistic Missile into Sea

Tokyo: North Korea test-fired a missile into the sea, according to statements from the Japanese government and the Maritime Self-Defense Force. The missile, believed to be ballistic in nature, was launched into the sea, as reported by both Japanese and South Korean officials.

According to Thai News Agency, South Korean media, referencing the South Korean military, confirmed that North Korea fired an unidentified object into the sea east of the Korean Peninsula. The Maritime Self-Defense Force reported that the object, suspected to be a ballistic missile, had fallen into the water.

Japan's public broadcaster NHK indicated that the missile landed outside Japan's exclusive economic zone. This latest missile test occurs amid ongoing joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States, which were concluded earlier than planned following U.S. President Donald Trump's directive to significantly reduce U.S. involvement.
