Nong Hom Daeng Celebrates One-Month Birthday, Attracting Tourists to Sisaket.

Sisaket: Growing up so fast, Nong Hom Daeng, the beloved baby hippo of Sisaket, had a one-month birthday celebration yesterday. The event was organized by the Governor of Sisaket Province, along with the private sector, the public, students, and university students to mark the milestone of the one-month-old female hippo, born on October 13 to mother Ketsarin and father Somsri at the wildlife sanctuary in the Somdej Phra Srinakarin Sisaket Park, Sisaket College of Agriculture and Technology, Mueang District, Sisaket Province. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anupong, Governor of Sisaket Province, expressed that since Nong Hom Daeng came into the world, she has significantly transformed the zoo's atmosphere. The presence of the baby hippo has attracted tens of thousands of tourists, generating substantial income to aid in the zoo's development. This revenue has been used to enhance her pond, improve the living conditions of other animals, and beautify the zoo's premises. The one-month birthday celebration wa s also seen as an initiative to stimulate the local economy. The festivities included decorating a birthday cake with a variety of vegetables and fruits for Nong Hom Daeng. The cake featured carrots, watermelon, cucumbers, corn, bananas, and pumpkins, appealing to the young hippo's appetite. Additionally, an activity took place where prizes were awarded to the lucky winners who participated in naming the baby hippo 'Nong Hom Daeng.'
