New york city: The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) held a ceremony to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The event took place at a baseball field on Staten Island, where firefighters participated in a memorial march to honor those lost in the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
According to Thai News Agency, the FDNY lost 343 firefighters in the historic attacks when al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four US commercial passenger planes. Two of these planes crashed into the World Trade Center twin towers in downtown New York City, another hit the Pentagon, and the fourth plane went down in Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths and sparked decades-long conflicts, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, which claimed at least 900,000 lives.
