Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Revealed after the first meeting of the EEC Committee under the government of Mr. Settha Thavisin, Prime Minister, that the EEC has considered a draft work plan for a one-year period from October 2023 to September 2024 and urgent goals within 99 day to attract investment from around the world through target industries in 5 main clusters: medical, digital, electric vehicles (EV), BCG and services. The urgent goals in 99 days of the EEC are divided into 8 areas:
1. Policy aspect: In December 2023, an overall plan will be prepared for the development of the Eastern Special Development Zone (2023-2027), which will be the main framework of the EEC, consisting of 5 areas: 1. Promote investment in industry and Future services 2.Increase efficiency and utilization of infrastructure and public utilities. 3. Raise the skills of workers to be ready for changes in technology and innovation. 4. Develop the city to be modern. Nice place to live, suitable for occupation and 5. Link the benefits from investment to sustainability.
2. Development of benefits to attract investment In December 2023, the EEC will issue an announcement from the Energy Regulatory Commission regarding benefits for entrepreneurs in the Special Economic Promotion Zone. Covers tax and non-tax aspects.
3. Creating an ecosystem for investment In January 2024, EEC fundraising sources will be developed. Supports fundraising using foreign currency mainly. Starting with the US dollar.
4. Driving infrastructure development by the high-speed rail project connecting three airports There will be a resolution of negotiations and clear guidelines between the SRT and the private investment contract partner, Asia Era One Company Limited, led by Mr. Phumtham.
