NCPO Condemns Violence in Southern Region, Calls for Urgent Manhunt for Perpetrators

Bangkok: The National Security Council (NSC) has strongly condemned the recent acts of violence in the southern border provinces, highlighting the brutal impact on innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. The NSC has vowed to pursue the perpetrators and ensure justice is served to the fullest extent. According to Thai News Agency, the NSC released a statement on May 4, 2015, denouncing these violent acts as uncivilized and a severe violation of human rights, laws, and international norms. The council emphasized that such actions are irresponsible towards fellow human beings and erode trust, posing a significant obstacle to achieving peace in the region. The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) extended its condolences to the affected families and communities, both Thai Buddhist and Thai Muslim, acknowledging the deep physical and mental scars left by these incidents. The NCPO stressed that while words alone cannot mend the wounds, the government is committed to robustly pursuin g justice for the victims and enhancing protective measures for innocent civilians. In its message, the NCPO urged the perpetrators to cease their violent actions immediately, asserting that targeting innocent people will not contribute to finding a political solution. The council reaffirmed its dedication to resolving the ongoing issues in the southern border provinces and maintaining a secure environment for all residents.
