NCB Supports Household Debt Campaign with Enhanced Credit Information for AMC Debtors

Bangkok: The National Credit Bureau (NCB) is actively participating in the "Quick Debt Settlement, Move On" campaign, aimed at assisting unsecured retail debtors to reintegrate into the financial system by providing them with a specialized code that reflects their commitment to settling outstanding debts.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Laksamon Atthapich, Managing Director of the National Credit Bureau Co., Ltd. (NCB), announced the bureau's initiative to promote debtor information through the "Quick Debt Settlement, Move On" project. The project employs account status codes that benefit debtors who participate and successfully settle their debts. Specifically, debtors who manage to settle their debts will receive "Code 11," while those who repay successfully will receive "Code 16." Once the account is closed, it will be marked with "Code 11," signifying that there are no outstanding debts. These codes are instrumental in proving a debtor's responsibility and diligence, thus opening up future loan opportunities.

Dr. Laksamon emphasized that this coding system will serve as a vital tool in encouraging debtors to adhere to financial discipline. The system will fairly document all good debt payments, thus laying a crucial foundation for establishing robust credit.

The "Quick Debt Closing, Moving On" project targets retail debtors with non-performing loans (NPLs) across all financial service providers, with debts totaling no more than 100,000 baht per person as of September 30, 2025. Participants in the project will be given more favorable debt restructuring options, such as waiving all outstanding interest and fees, and reducing some of the principal, allowing them to settle debts more quickly. This initiative aims to restore participants' repayment history with the NCB, enabling them to access formal credit services once again. The project offers two measures: (1) Pay-off, allowing immediate debt clearance upon partial payment, and (2) Pay-off in installments, permitting debt repayment over up to three years with the benefit of waived interest, provided conditions are met.

Upon full repayment within the project, debtors will be assigned a 'Code 11,' indicating the account's normal closure status. This information will remain in the system for three years, similar to standard account closures, showcasing the debtor's commitment and financial discipline. This will transform them back into 'people with good credit,' effectively serving as a 'code to unlock' future financial opportunities for AMC debtors.
