Narathiwat Provincial Court scheduled a closing statement for the Tak Bai case. The atmosphere at the court since morning was filled with plaintiffs, lawyers, and supporters gradually entering to hear the dismissal of the case, while officers maintained peace and order. After the statute of limitations on the Tak Bai case expired on October 25, with the seven defendants not arrested or surrendering to fight the case, today the Narathiwat Provincial Court summoned lawyers and relatives of victims of the Tak Bai police station dispersal incident, who filed lawsuits against seven former high-ranking officials, to hear the dismissal of the case. Mr. Ratsada Manurassada, the plaintiff's lawyer, gave information to the news team before entering the court that according to the procedure, the court will order the dismissal of the case after the statute of limitations has expired. As for the plaintiff, they will make a closing statement and submit the remaining evidence to the court because even though this case wil l not bring the accused to justice in the end, it is still a historical case that requires further investigation of the facts. As for the initial discussion with the relatives of the deceased, they are preparing to propose that the former suspects, who are former high-ranking civil servants, refrain from receiving their pensions, which are government money, and to propose to the Prime Minister to investigate the dereliction of duty of the Nong Chik Police Station under Section 157 in the case of stopping the submission of the criminal case file to the prosecutor, which was lost for almost 19 years before being submitted this year. The Attorney General issued an indictment order on September 12, which believes that someone must be held responsible in this case. They will also propose to the Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights, which has set up a subcommittee to consider this issue. As for the latest developments in front of the court, police and security forces are still deploying forces to maintain p eace and order, while the court has already begun the closing statement process.
