According to Thai News Agency, on January 11, 2026, the Narathiwat Task Force issued Announcement No. 29/2569, enhancing security protocols in Narathiwat Province due to ongoing unrest, which includes bombings and various acts of violence. This has led to an escalation in area control measures, utilizing authority under the Martial Law Act of 1914. The announcement specifies that martial law in Narathiwat province extends across all districts, aligning with previous announcements and royal decrees, aiming to maintain peace and order while ensuring the safety of residents and their properties. Key measures involve strict control at border crossings along the Thai-Malaysian frontier, overseeing the movement of vehicles and individuals, and regulating trade activities involving both Thai and foreign nationals. Additionally, a curfew has been declared in Narathiwat province from 9 PM to 5 AM, with exceptions for urgent situations requiring authorization from military, police, or local officials. Military units have been empowered to execute operations, searches, and security measures under Articles 6, 8, 9, and 11 of the Martial Law Act of 1914, along with other necessary actions to quell violence and restore order. Civilian authorities have been directed to support military efforts closely, while local residents are urged to cooperate with officials to ensure the effectiveness of security measures. This directive is effective immediately from the date of issuance, January 11, 2026, and will remain in place until further notice.
