Bangkok: Praphas Kong-ied, a member of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), has passed away. According to Thai News Agency, the news was confirmed through a message on the NACC's Facebook page, expressing deep condolences over his passing. It was reported that prior to his death, Mr. Praphas had been ill and hospitalized.
Mr. Praphas, aged 64, had a distinguished career as a civil servant and legal expert. His extensive experience spanned roles in finance and the justice system. He served as Judge of the Central Tax Court, Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, and Director-General of both the Comptroller General's Department and the Treasury Department. His appointment to the NACC came on January 30, 2025, following Senate approval. Recently, he was appointed to a subcommittee investigating a corruption case concerning the 2025 local government recruitment examination.
