Woking: The successful conclusion of the Muay Thai Master Class in England marked another milestone for the Muay Thai Master Class 2025 project. Organized by the Subcommittee for Driving the Sports Industry in collaboration with the Boxing Commission of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), the event was hosted in Woking, England. This event followed previous successful classes held in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Brazil. According to Thai News Agency, the event was graced by the presence of Asst. Prof. Pimol Srivikorn, President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, who presided over the opening ceremony. The event was also attended by Mr. Nattawat Kritsanamara, Ambassador of Thailand to London, and Luis Morales, Mayor of Woking, among other notable figures from the sports and diplomatic communities. The event featured three renowned Thai boxers, Saenchai P.K. Saenchai Muay Thai Gym, Namsaknoi Yuttakankamtorn, and Nabil Anan, who provided instruction to over 400 British partic ipants. The attendees, who spanned all age groups, were introduced to the basics of Muay Thai, including boxing techniques and the use of various Muay Thai weapons. In addition to the master class, the event also included the presentation of the Standard Muaythai Gyms 2025 plaque to 10 boxing camps in England. These camps met the standards set by the Boxing Sports Commission. The event also facilitated discussions on applying for Non-Immigrant Visa (ED) and Muaythai DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) to encourage British nationals to study Muay Thai in Thailand. Asst. Prof. Pimol emphasized the significance of the project, noting that the event celebrated 170 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and England. The ambassador highlighted that while they initially anticipated 300 participants, the event attracted over 400 registrants from across Europe, including Germany and France. The success of the event underscored the growing interest in Muay Thai and its cultural significance. Mr. Nattawat Krisnam ara expressed his delight in participating, noting the strong cultural exchange between Thailand and the United Kingdom. He emphasized the role of Muay Thai in fostering bilateral ties and encouraging British people to explore Thai culture. Ritthichak Kaewsamrit, a former top Muay Thai boxer and current instructor in England, highlighted the demand for qualified Muay Thai teachers in the UK. He urged the SAT to support the issuance of visas and work permits for Thai instructors to meet the growing interest in Muay Thai across the country. Ms. Pronprasert Samanmit, Deputy Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, along with other officials, visited boxing camps in London to present Standard Muaythai Gym plaques. The SAT aims to further develop Muay Thai internationally, recognizing its potential economic benefits for Thailand. The SAT deputy governor concluded by stating that efforts are underway to standardize Muay Thai globally. The goal is to establish a unified standard for trainers, athletes, refer ees, and boxing camps, ensuring the consistent quality and authenticity of Muay Thai worldwide.
