The board of Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority (MRT) has approved the hiring of Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company to install operational system and to operate the Taopoon-Bang Sue connection between the Blue and Purple lines for two years at a cost of 918 million baht.
MRT Governor Pirayuth Singpattanakul said Wednesday that the board agreed on January 5 to the use of special method to hire BEM under the framework that BEM would be required to install operational system at a cost of 678 million baht which was bargained down to 672 million baht and two-year operational costs amounting to 104 million baht plus other expenses, fees and VAT, totaling 918 million baht.
All the system must be ready for the inauguration of the service within August 12, said Mr Pirayuth, adding that once the cabinet gives an approval, expected in early February, a contract can be signed immediately.
As for the Yellow Line between Lat Phrao and Samrong and the Pink Line between Kaeline and Min Buri, he said that the two projects are still in negotiating process in details. But he added that Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak has wanted the contracts of the two lines to be signed in March.
