Bangkok: The Blue Line is expected to open fully tomorrow morning. The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has provided an update on the MRT Blue Line disruption, stating that repairs to the power supply and signaling systems are being expedited and full service is expected to resume on the morning of September 21st.
According to Thai News Agency, a short circuit occurred on the MRT Chalerm Ratchamongkol Line (MRT Blue Line) tracks between Tao Poon and Bang Pho stations on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 12:22 PM. This resulted in a temporary suspension of train service from Bang O station to Kamphaeng Phet station.
The Mass Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) wishes to inform you that an investigation has revealed the cause of the incident was a spark from a 750-volt DC wiring harness, resulting in damage to the power supply and signaling systems. We are currently working urgently to repair the wiring, power trays, and signaling systems, while simultaneously conducting a complete safety check to ensure full operational readiness. We expect full service to resume as normal by the morning of September 21, 2026.
The MRTA sincerely apologizes to all passengers for the inconvenience caused. We will work with the concessionaire to consider preventative measures to avoid a recurrence and to restore public confidence.
