Bangkok: MP Kanweer has issued a stark warning to the government, urging preparation for the impact anticipated from the international stage as Min Aung Hlaing arrives in Thailand ahead of the BIMSTEC forum.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Kanwee Sipsang, a member of the Phatham Party, expressed his concerns on Facebook, criticizing the government’s weak diplomatic stance and lack of leadership on the global front. He emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values, urging the government to respect the principles that a civilian, elected government should embody. Mr. Kanwee cautioned against legitimizing military dictatorship and evading accountability, stressing that such actions are avoidable with sufficient courage.
Mr. Kanwee further highlighted the significance of being prepared for international scrutiny, as Myanmar’s military leader Min Aung Hlaing makes his official visit to Thailand. The upcoming BIMSTEC meeting, hosted by Thailand, is scheduled to take place at the Shangri-La Hotel from April 3-4.
