Bangkok: "Monporn" has revealed that Pheu Thai MPs are experiencing more stress than "Paethongtarn" after a show of support, highlighting concerns about the political situation faced by Pheu Thai since the Thaksin era. Meanwhile, "Ingkorn" has expressed concern about the upcoming three-day budget debate and arranged for dumplings and steamed buns to be served to MPs from both the government and opposition parties.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport and MP for the Pheu Thai Party, discussed the atmosphere as Pheu Thai Party MPs offered support to Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, in her role as party leader. During the three-day consideration of the 2026 budget bill, Ms. Paethongtarn came to support and monitor MPs' work in Parliament, addressing issues like agricultural prices and the Thai-Cambodian border. In recognition of the MPs' hard work over three consecutive days of budget consideration, she arranged for steamed dumplings, buns, and drinks for MPs from both opposition and government parties. Ms. Paethongtarn has been inquiring about the past two nights, especially last night when the budget for the Ministry of Culture, under her oversight, was being reviewed.
Ms. Manoporn also mentioned that Pheu Thai Party MPs met with Ms. Paethongtarn today after the Constitutional Court scheduled a hearing on an audio clip for August 21st, with a verdict expected on August 29th. Ms. Paethongtarn has not confirmed if she will attend the hearing to explain herself. Party MPs believe Ms. Paethongtarn's actions are sincere, not intending to cause conflict and loss to the public, and they trust the court will deliver justice. The atmosphere was supportive.
Ms. Manoporn further stated that while Ms. Paethongtarn remains calm, MPs are more stressed due to their deep concerns and attachment. This is attributed to the political journey the Pheu Thai Party has taken since the era of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra through to Ms. Paethongtarn's leadership, encouraging a sense of mutual care among members. However, Ms. Manoporn believes that everything will resolve positively, allowing the Prime Minister to return to work and enabling the people and the nation to achieve stability through strong politics and renewed confidence for Thailand's progress. She emphasized that Ms. Paethongtarn's morale is strong.
In addition to providing encouragement, the MP also noted that August 21st is Ms. Paethongtarn's birthday, expressing hope that favorable outcomes will follow.
