Phuket: A monk from a renowned temple in Phuket province has fatally shot another monk in the temple's bathroom, citing ongoing bullying as the motive. The tragic incident unfolded early this morning, leading to the arrest of Phra Charuek, 47, who confessed to shooting and killing 36-year-old Phra Niwat. According to Thai News Agency, the Phuket City Police Station's investigation team apprehended Phra Charuek at the scene. Authorities recovered a .38 caliber pistol, six rounds of .38 caliber ammunition in the revolver, and an additional 14 bullets hidden in the monk's quarters. Following his arrest, Phra Charuek was disrobed and taken to the police station for questioning and subsequent legal proceedings. The initial statement from the accused revealed that he had been regularly bullied and oppressed by the deceased monk. The situation escalated when the victim entered the bathroom without locking the door and used his mobile phone loudly, prompting Phra Charuek to confront him with a gun. The confrontatio n ended with the fatal shooting of Phra Niwat in the bathroom. After the shooting, Phra Charuek loaded six more bullets into the gun and concealed it in his kuti until his arrest by the authorities.
