Bangkok: The Ministry of Labor has announced an adjustment to the minimum wage, set to take effect on July 1, 2025. According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor, stated that the Cabinet has approved the Wage Committee's proposal to align the minimum wage with the economic conditions and improve workers' quality of life. The new wage structure divides the minimum wage into several categories. The highest rate, 400 baht per day, will apply to all businesses in Bangkok, specific hotel categories across the country, and service establishments offering food and beverages such as nightclubs and bars. The adjustment also aims to balance employers' operations while ensuring workers receive appropriate income. The detailed wage rates are as follows: 400 baht for specific regions and business types, 380 baht in Mueang Chiang Mai District and Mueang Songkhla District, and various rates from 372 to 337 baht in other regions. Mr. Boonsong highlighted that this i nitiative results from collaboration among the government, employers, and employees, focusing on equality and sustainable economic growth. Mr. Boonsong reiterated the government's commitment to enhancing job security and quality of life for Thai workers, ensuring the policy benefits all parties involved.
