Bangkok: The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has announced the "For the People 2026" initiative, which includes the distribution of seven New Year gift boxes aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and community development.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, Acting Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, revealed that the initiative includes over 10,000 scholarships as part of the "Equal Educational Scholarships" program. This aims to provide educational opportunities and reduce inequality, benefiting children, youth, and parents financially. The scholarships cover various groups, including disabled students, youth in remote areas, and those in southern border provinces.
Scholarships are also available for academically gifted students and specialized personnel, with 2,800 allocated from undergraduate to doctoral levels. These encompass government scholarships in science and technology, as well as opportunities in humanities, social sciences, and specialized fields like advanced semiconductor and electronics industries.
Box 2, "MHESI Care: Uniting to Restore Communities," focuses on establishing Community Service Centers in flood-affected areas across over 55 provinces. These centers will offer Upskill and Reskill training, Fix It services, and special community services, benefiting over 26,190 people.
Box 3, "Upskill - Reskill: Transform Knowledge into Careers," offers training courses nationwide in collaboration with universities. The initiative targets unemployed individuals, working adults, students, and the general public, focusing on essential 21st-century skills.
Box 4 provides scientific services, including fee waivers and reduced service fees for entrepreneurs. Initiatives include the AI Half-Price Project and promotions on radiation technology services, along with free calibration services and online readiness assessments for Industry 4.0.
Box 5, "Open the World of Science, Astronomy, and Space Technology Learning for Free," offers free and discounted access to various science and astronomy exhibitions and activities. This includes free entry to Futurium and observatories, promoting public engagement with science and technology.
Box 6, "Research and Development for the Community," provides resources like biochar kilns and solar panels to communities, along with discounts and free technology for entrepreneurs, farmers, and the public.
Box 7, "Opening Public Service Points: Rest and Relax for the New Year 2026," includes public service points and wellness activities, such as free acupuncture and mental health counseling, to support community well-being.
