Minister Suda-wan Wangsupakitchkosol has emphasized the temple's significance as a cultural and historical site during an official cabinet meeting in Chiang Mai Province. According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Culture inspected Wat Phalat, which was designated as an ancient site by the Fine Arts Department. The temple holds historical connections with Phra That Doi Suthep and features a pagoda built in Burmese art style from the era of Kruba Srivichai. The temple's construction involved Burmese craftsmen, and it houses important religious artifacts, including a Buddha statue in Burmese art. Wat Phalat is also noted for its scenic nature study trail, attracting tourists who visit for both its natural beauty and historical significance. The Ministry's visit aimed to explore the ancient sites within the temple and discuss strategies to enhance its appeal as a re ligious and cultural tourist attraction. Minister Sudawan further highlighted her visit to the Chiang Mai National Museum, which serves as an educational and cultural hub for the arts and culture of the northern region. The museum has undergone significant renovations, enhancing its capacity to showcase a diverse array of exhibitions, including natural history and Lanna art. These efforts align with government and ministry policies to develop the museum into a comprehensive learning resource.
