Bangkok: The Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Intellectual Property, has inaugurated the annual Intellectual Property Fair 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, the event is themed "Vibrant Ideas Unleashed: Ignite the Power of Ideas, Build the Economy with Intellectual Property," and features an exhibition honoring Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya. The Princess is celebrated as a role model for Thai intellectual property creators, particularly for her efforts in elevating Thai fabrics to international fashion standards and her work in improving the lives of her subjects.
Mr. Chatuporn Buruspat, Minister of Commerce, stated that the 24th IP Fair 2025 offers Thai entrepreneurs an opportunity to display their intellectual property capabilities. This aligns with the "Thais Make, Thais Use, Thais Help Thais" policy, aiming to prepare for the challenging and volatile economic climate. The fair seeks to enhance entrepreneurs' potential to produce market-aligned products, increase trade opportunities, and drive the grassroots economy, thereby improving the quality of life for Thais. On August 14, 2025, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) awarded Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya the WIPO Award for Creative Excellence, recognizing her internationally acclaimed creative talent, particularly in fashion and design. The event also features an exhibition of her work, allowing attendees to appreciate her contributions to the cultural and economic landscape.
Mr. Chatuporn emphasized that IP Fair 2025 aims to inspire entrepreneurs, from small to large, to cultivate their ideas into businesses. The event showcases innovations from leading companies like PTT Public Company Limited and Siam Cement Public Company Limited, along with contributions from universities nationwide. The Technology and Innovation Support Center (TISC), supported by WIPO and the Department of Intellectual Property, hosts a pavilion encouraging researchers and entrepreneurs to connect innovations with business opportunities. Exhibitions also display Thai soft power initiatives, such as "Moo Deng" by the Zoological Park Organization of Thailand and "Art Toy," designed to inspire and empower visitors.
A significant highlight of the event is the promotion of Thai Geographical Indications (GI) and the "IP Local Market" area. This initiative provides consumers access to quality regional products, increases product awareness, and generates tangible sales for community entrepreneurs. The event is projected to generate over 150 million baht in business negotiation value and revenue distribution, reflecting a comprehensive intellectual property ecosystem from creation to commercial utilization.
Mr. Chatuporn concluded that these examples of success will inspire visitors to spark their own ideas, expand businesses, create added value, and develop products that meet both domestic and global market needs. This approach fosters strong and sustainable growth for the grassroots economy, in line with the "Reliable Commerce, Trusted by the People" and "SMEs Must Survive" policies. These strategies aim to enhance Thai products' potential and competitiveness in the global trade arena, paving the way towards new business models and the "businesses of the future."
