MEA Boosts Power System Stability Ahead of Elections and Referendums

Samut prakan: MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority) visited the Election Commission office in Samut Prakan to upgrade the power system’s stability in support of the upcoming elections and referendums.

According to Thai News Agency, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) has announced its commitment to ensuring public confidence in the upcoming elections and referendums. Mr. Pipat Cholampai, Deputy Governor of MEA, led a team to inspect the electrical system at the Samut Prakan Provincial Election Commission office. This visit aimed to implement measures that would guarantee energy security at polling stations and counting centers. MEA has prepared more than 500 personnel to be deployed across Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan. Additionally, backup power systems have been installed and coordination with telecommunications agencies is in place to ensure uninterrupted internet access and media coverage. The initiative aims to provide convenience and assure the public of the transparency in election results reporting, available 24 hours a day.

Mr. Pipat Cholampai highlighted that MEA prioritizes supporting this national mission by ensuring the stability, safety, and efficiency of the electricity distribution system. The operational plan encompasses polling stations, voting centers, and vote counting centers at all levels to ensure accurate vote counting and timely results reporting. MEA is also extending support to related sectors, including the media, to facilitate continuous dissemination of election results, and telecommunications agencies to support unlimited internet access for transmitting election data.

MEA has strategically deployed over 500 expert personnel throughout its service area, equipped with backup generators and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) equipment that are fully operational. These resources are ready to respond immediately to any emergencies. Tomorrow, MEA plans to open the ‘Metropolitan Electricity Authority’s Electricity System Control Operations Center for the Election of Members of Parliament and Referendum’ to closely monitor the situation. On-site monitoring will be conducted on election day to ensure that every vote is protected under the most stable electricity system possible.
