MCOT Land in Ratchada-Rama 9 Area Set for Major Development

Bangkok:MCOT Land, a 50-rai plot owned by MCOT Public Company Limited, is poised for significant development in the Ratchada-Rama 9 area, a burgeoning central business district in Bangkok.

According to Thai News Agency, this prime piece of real estate is valued at 9,000 - 9,500 million baht, with an additional private sector development budget expected to bring the total investment into the tens of billions of baht. MCOT's Deputy Managing Director, Finance and Acting Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Suntariya Wongsirikul, highlighted the land's potential as a high-value asset within a prime business district.

The plot is strategically located with the Thailand Cultural Centre and the Ministry of Culture to the north, Thiam Ruammit Road to the south, a canal to the east, and land belonging to the State Railway of Thailand and the China Cultural Center to the west. It boasts excellent infrastructure and access to major public transportation, including a joint MRT station for the Orange and Blue Lines.

MCOT plans to offer a 30-year long-term lease for diverse investment opportunities, including large-scale projects such as office buildings, shopping malls, or hotels. As of July 10th, documents for this lease went on sale, closing on August 26th, 2026, attracting significant interest from companies.

In the short term, MCOT Land is used for events like music festivals and film locations. The S2O 2026 festival, held on the site, drew over 100,000 attendees and generated over 400 million baht. Upcoming events include Anyma ÆDEN Bangkok 2026, featuring Melodic Techno performances.

The development of MCOT Land will significantly enhance the Rama 9 area's position as a new economic hub in Bangkok.
