Bangkok: Maxbit Digital Asset Co., Ltd. has announced a partnership with the Chess Association of Thailand to support the Thai national chess team as they compete in the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad 2026 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. According to Thai News Agency, this collaboration is centered around the concept 'Every Move Starts with a Strategy,' emphasizing the analysis, planning, and decision-making inherent in chess. The initiative aims to highlight the dedication and mindset of Thai chess players on an international platform.
The tournament commenced with a notable performance from Thai chess player Prin Laohawirapap, who triumphed over GM Arjun Erigaisi, a leading Indian chess player, in the first round on board 1. Prin's victory, with a rating of 2363 against Arjun's 2759, was one of the most anticipated outcomes of the opening round. Despite this achievement, the Thai team faced a 1-3 defeat against India in the team event of that round. Nevertheless, Prin's win underscores the potential of Thai players to compete at a high level.
Beyond competition support, Maxbit and the Chess Association of Thailand have launched a series of photographs under the theme "Every Move Starts with a Strategy," showcasing the athletes' personalities, mindsets, and strategic approaches. Pakket Ratchakitprakarn, CEO of Maxbit, expressed the company's excitement in backing the Thai national team, viewing the Olympiad as a global stage for Thai athletes to demonstrate their abilities.
