Mastermind and Accomplice Denied Bail in Manager Abduction Case

Bangkok: The mastermind and his female accomplice have been remanded in custody for the first period in the case of the abduction of a young manager. Police brought two suspects accused of masterminding the abduction of a medical equipment company manager to the Criminal Court for their first remand hearing, and opposed bail. The suspects declined to answer questions from the media.

According to Thai News Agency, at 8:45 AM, investigators from Sutthisan Police Station brought Mr. Sor (pseudonym) and his female accomplice, Ms. B (pseudonym), to court to request a 12-day initial remand. These individuals are suspects in a murder-for-hire case involving Mr. Ruj, the manager of a medical equipment company, on February 18th. The investigators opposed bail, citing the severity of the crime, public and media attention, the high penalty, the potential for interference with evidence, and the presence of other accomplices at large.

While being escorted from the detention cell at Sutthisan Police Station to a vehicle, the media attempted to question Mr. So and Ms. B about the motive for the abduction and murder, but neither of them answered the questions.

Pol. Col. Porntep Chalermkiat, Superintendent of Sutthisan Police Station, briefly stated that both suspects maintain their original confessions, admitting to the abduction but denying any intent to kill or harm. They claim the motive stemmed from family problems and that they needed the deceased's phone for examination. Regarding the additional evidence found at Ms. B's residence yesterday, some items were discovered, including several old mobile phones. The information is currently being examined, and the phones found are not those of the deceased. Concerning the possibility that the young man driving the car may have been involved in transporting and concealing the body, this cannot be confirmed at this time as investigation and evidence collection are ongoing. As for the pursuit of Mr. Art, another key suspect, efforts are underway and he is expected to be apprehended soon.
